Juan Angél Becerra Cantú

For over 22 years, he has held executive roles ranging from International Tax Partner at KPMG Mexico (1998–2006) to serving on the boards of several companies in Mexico, as well as on the advisory board of an international publishing institution. From November 2003 to October 2005, he led KPMG Mexico’s New York office, acting as the principal international tax partner for multiple Mexican multinational corporations and as the lead Mexican tax advisor for several U.S. and European multinational companies.

For more than 25 years, he has been a speaker and author on topics including international tax treaty law, mental science, artificial intelligence, information technology, global economics, and more. His presentations and publications span countries such as the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and have been delivered through institutions such as the Canada Revenue Agency, the Mexican Tax Administration Service, Globo Economía (from within the New York Stock Exchange), the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants, and various universities in Mexico and Canada.

His book Interpretation and Application of Tax Treaties in North America (IBFD, Amsterdam, 2007), along with its revised second edition (IBFD, Amsterdam, 2013), has been cited globally in academic research, legal publications, and even Supreme Court rulings in Indonesia.

Since 2014, he has expanded his expertise into digital marketing and tax technology, serving on the boards and advisory teams of several tech companies, representing Canadian firms, and advising initiatives focused on social entrepreneurship and community sustainability.

In 2016, he led the Global Network of Mexicans Abroad – British Columbia Chapter, organizing cross-border business events and fostering international collaboration.

Since 2006, he has served as an external advisor to law and accounting firms in Mexico, Canada, and the United States, and has been a member of executive advisory teams for companies and institutions in Mexico and the Netherlands.

He is also a long-standing member of the International Tax Studies Group (International Tax Commission) of the CCPM in Mexico City, serving since 2006.
